Where was I on September 11, 2001? Honestly, that doesn’t matter.
Everyone remembers where they were on that day. We will always remember. But it is not where we were that needs remembering, but where they were. The first responders. The passengers. The soldiers who have been killed in combat in the ten long years since the towers fell. The heroes.
We were witnesses to the tragedy. Nothing more, nothing less. They lived it. They fought. They bled. They died. Their lives, and their sacrifices, are what we must remember, not “where were you when you heard?”
Forget where you were. Never forget them.
You are gone, but you will never be forgotten. Requiescat in pace, brave souls. You have earned your rest.
